Fruit is one of the top sectors in Extremaduran agriculture. It makes up half of all agricultural exports, shipping to Europe, Asia and America, and mostly comprises cherries, nectarines and plums. Producers, exporters and university teachers debated after the presentation of the strategic plan on the advances in post-harvesting technology, the situation of international markets, the closing of the Russian market and the future exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union.
