The Court of Seville has accepted the objection from PP and will remove the magistrate Pedro Izquierdo from the tribunal that will weigh the political component of the ERE case
The magistrate Pedro Izquierdo will not be part of the tribunal that will weigh the political component of the ERE case... one that will bring former presidents Chaves and Griñán, among others, to the bench. The Court of Seville has removed Izquierdo from the case because he is a former senior official of the Autonomous Government.
The Court of Seville has accepted the objection presented by PP and Manos Limpias. The Court recognises that there is potential for partiality, since Izquierdo was the Secretary of Justice between 2008 and 2014, during the tenures of presidents Chaves and Griñán.
El juez Pedro Izquierdo no formará parte del tribunal que juzgará la pieza política de los ERE.

Izquierdo had been chosen to preside over this component by a draw and he, as well as the Public Prosecutor's Office, has opposed this challenge. Now a new magistrate will have to be chosen. A trial that will also bring to the bench the former Vice-President, Gaspar Zarrías, and the former Minister of Development, Magdalena Álvarez. They are all accused of a supposed breach of official duty, punishable with disqualification from office, and some, like Griñán, are also accused of embezzlement, which carries prison time.
