New campaign promotes foster case for minors as an alternative to residential centres

'Your home in their arms' is the slogan of the new campaign for hosting minors and encourage their return to the biological family in any possible way, but especially to prevent social upheaval. In Extremadura, there are 321 minors living in residential centres.

At present, there are 17 families in Extremadura who are ready to welcome children into their homes coming from centres for minors, fifteen are already registered and two are on the waiting list, so if they pass the assessments to prove emotional and economic stability, they will be able to open the door of their homes to an unknown minor who will spend days, months or years with them. The view is always to return minors to their biological family with social guarantees in any way possible.

The adviser for Social Policies, José María Vergeles, explains that a child that grows up in a family environment "has better psychomotor development, in terms of their values and cultural background", hence the reason for this public awareness campaign.
