Around 29% of Canary Islanders are poor
The poverty rate in the Canary Islands is nearing 29%. A situation that, according to the experts, is likely to become chronic. Some are trying to help out, such as Technicians without Borders.

This association was born out of the crisis and now comprises a team of 12 people. They fix electrical appliances or carry out small-scale renovations for families in need, all for free. They receive donations of used goods that still have life in them. Improving the lives of some families, that in the Canary Islands make up almost 29% of the population. Cáritas confirms that another area of significant poverty is also on the rise, that of workers whose salary is below 400 euros.
