The Spanish Olympic swimming team trains in Gran Canaria
The Metropole Swimming Club hosted Spain's national Swimming Championship. The championship also served to put the Spanish Olympic team through their paces.

The Sabadell club dominated the Spanish Swimming Championship in both the men's and women's categories. The event was held in the Metropole Swimming Club in the capital of Gran Canaria, and was also a warm-up session for the Rio Olympics. The favourite, Mireia Belmonte, won 5 gold medals.
