Yesterday the fog prevented operations from running as normal in the Tenerife North Airport. The scarce visibility caused 16 flights to be redirected to the Reina Sofía Tenerife South Airport, three to be cancelled and many others to be delayed.
This weather phenomenon is quite common at this time of the year, especially in July, when the trade winds come into the area. Aena hopes that the fog will not affect the 'Departure Operations' scheduled for the 15th, in three days time. This summer is expected to see Canarian airports beat their records in terms of numbers of passengers. In the month of June alone, an increase of 15% was experienced when compared to the same month of last year.
