RTVE will be present from 5 to 8 October at the new edition of MIPCOM in Cannes.

RTVE will be present from 5 to 8 October at the new edition of MIPCOM in Cannes. Carlos, King Emperor and Seis hermanas will be its main drama programs at this edition, in which RTVE will also present the rest of its catalog, notable amongst which are series such as El ministerio del tiempo, Acacias 38 and Isabel, which already achieved very good results in previous international markets.

The first episode of the new historical drama Carlos, King Emperor, produced in collaboration with Diagonal TV, aired on 7 September and is broadcast at prime time on TVE’s channel La 1 on Mondays with excellent viewing figures. It is directed by Oriol Ferrer, one of the directors of Isabel, with Salvador García and Jorge Torregrosa directing individual episodes. Heading the team of screenwriters is José Luis Martín, script coordinator of the second and third seasons of the TVE drama about the Catholic Monarchs.

Álvaro Cervantes heads the cast, along with Blanca Suárez, who plays Isabella of Portugal, the emperor’s one true love. Furthermore, many historical figures will make appearances in this drama, which presents the life of Charles V from his arrival in Spain as he takes the Spanish throne, and in which we will witness how the heir to the Germanic Empire gradually grows as a statesman and becomes stronger as he reacts to the threats that surround him.

RTVE will also present the daily series Seis hermanas in Cannes. This is an excellently produced drama that presents to us the life of the Silva sisters. Attractive, educated, elegant and kind, they are the life and soul of the main high society parties in the Madrid of the day. Everything changes suddenly when, after their father suffers a serious accident, they have to face a new harsh reality, taking over the family textile factory. A marvelous story of overcoming hardship, struggles and false appearances in the Madrid of 1913 in which we encounter love, humor and, above all, emotion.

RTVE will also present the rest of its catalogue, which features series such as El ministerio del tiempo, Acacias 38 and Isabel, which have already achieved very good results in previous international markets.

As in previous editions, RTVE will market its international channels: TVE Internacional and 24 Horas, which is joined, on this occasion, by the new High Definition channel STAR HD.  This new channel is available in the Americas, and its content will include TVE’s best series, films and entertainment programs. It is currently undergoing broadcasting tests through the Galaxy 23 and Hispasat 1E satellites.

It will also present MIS (Made In Spain), a channel created by virtue of an agreement signed between RTVE and Videomercury, which is dedicated to Spanish drama (series and films).

TVE’s marketing team in Cannes will be led by Rodolfo Domínguez, Commercial Director, Rafael Bardem, Deputy Director of Program Sales, and María Jesús Pérez, Deputy Director of Channel Sales.
