Prim, el asesinato de la calle del Turco and Víctor Ros win Gold World Medals at the International Television and Film Awards

The TV movie ‘Prim, el asesinato de la calle del Turco’ and the mini-series ‘Víctor Ros’ were honoured at the prestigious New York Festivals International Television and Film competition, winning the Gold World Medal in the TV Movie and Mini-Series categories, respectively. In addition, ‘Un país para comérselo’ received a Finalist Certificate in the category of Culinary Programme. The winners were announced on Tuesday, 14 April at a gala event in Las Vegas (USA).

‘Prim, el asesinato de la calle del Turco,’ which received the Gold World Medal in the TV Movie category, is an historical thriller based on the fatal shooting of General Prim in 1870 – an assassination that continues to be shrouded in mystery and a case that remains unsolved. Directed by Miguel Bardem and written for the screen by Nacho Faerna and Virginia Yagüe was released on TVE coinciding with the bicentenary of General Prim’s birth, in December 2014. It features an excellent cast of actors such as Francesc Orella, Javier Godino, Simón Andreu, Victor Clavijo, Daniel Grau, Pedro Casablanc, Javivi, Secun de la Rosa, José Luis Alcobendas, Alfonso Lara, Yuriria Valley, Enrique Villén and Pepe Lorente, among others. The show also recently won the Silver Globe at the World Media Festival in Hamburg.

The TV movie was produced by TVE in collaboration with Televisión de Cataluña, Shine Iberia and Dream Team, and filmed in Madrid, Alcalá de Henares, and Aranjuez.

‘Víctor Ros, ’ awarded with the Gold World Medal in the Mini-Series category. It is a fictional programme starring by Carles Francino, which recreates, in six episodes, the mystery novels of Jerónimo Tristante. Set in Madrid in the late 19th century, where the brilliant inspector and his loyal team solve the toughest criminal cases with the most groundbreaking forensic techniques of the day. Romantically, he is entangled in a complicated love triangle. Esmeralda Moya, Megan Montaner, Fernando Valverde, Helio Pedregal, Juan Fernandez and Nacho Fresneda round out the series’ cast. This mini-series also recently won the Silver Globe at the World Media Festival in Hamburg.

In addition,  ‘Un país para comérselo’ received a Finalist Certificate in the category of Culinary Programme. The documentary series, produced by TVE in collaboration with Grupo Ganga, intertwines Spain’s cuisine and its landscapes in an emotional journey, hosted – in its last two seasons – by Ana Duato. Over the course of its six stages, the programme has received numerous awards, including the Gold Globe at the World Media Festival in Hamburg, the Premio Nacional de Periodismo Gastronómico Álvaro Cunqueiro (Álvaro Cunqueiro National Prize for Culinary Journalism), as well as the Real Academia de Gastronomía and the Alimentos de España (Spanish Royal Academy of Gastronomy) awards, among others.
