NBC Approves the american version of the series "Los Misterios de Laura"

NBC Universal, one of the most important nationwide channels in the United States, has given the green light for a Spanish series to be adapted for American television, for the first time in the channel's history. "The mysteries of Laura" will be the name of the American version of the TVE fiction series produced by Boomerang TV, "Mom detective". Production on the American version, which will be carried out by Warner Bros, is due to begin over the next few weeks, and the series will be broadcast next season.

The Head of Film and Fiction at TVE, Fernando López-Puig, has declared that this piece of good news attests to the high quality of Spanish fiction". This is the first time in NBC's history that the US channel has decided to adapt a Spanish series.

Goyo Quintana,  the Managing Director of Boomerang TV is "very proud that a Boomerang TV series has achieved this landmark success for Spanish fiction", declaring that he always had faith in "this project's potential".

The fiction series will feature a number of prestigious names from the world of American television. Thus, Debra Messing ("Will and Grace", "Smash") will be the actress who portrays Inspector Lebrel, who will be called Laura Diamond in the US version of the series. She will be accompanied by the actor, Josh Lucas, who will play Jake Diamond (Jacobo, the ex-husband), as well as by Laz Alonso, her research team colleague.

Jeff Rake will be entrusted with adapting the script. At the same time, he will serve as an Executive Producer alongside Aaron Kaplan and Greg Berlanti ("Arrow", "Brothers & Sisters"), whilst Joseph McGinty ("The O.C.", "Chuck") will head up the executive production and direction of the US adaptation of the Spanish fiction series.

"Mom Detective", which will be set in the city of New York in the American adaptation, is a police comedy featuring episode-length story-lines and an ongoing love-interest and family-based plot. It relates the adventures of Laura Lebrel, a woman who manages to combine her professional career as a brilliant inspector with her personal life.

This will not be the first time that "Los misterios de Laura" has been adapted for foreign television. The format has also been purchased in Russia, Holland and Italy. The TVE series has also crossed borders itself, having been shown on various international television channels in countries such as Bolivia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Peru and the Dominican Republic
