With more than 400 episodes distributed in 23 seasons, this production has been recognized with countless awards in Spain and abroad. Set in April 1968, the plot follows the course of contemporary Spain through the Alcántara family, a middle-class family experiencing the metamorphosis of Franco's regime into a modern democracy.

Like millions of Spaniards, the Alcántaras emigrated to Madrid from their home town in La Mancha, Sagrillas, sometime in the 1950s. The family, consisting of Antonio, Mercedes and their children Tony, Inés, Carlitos and María, along with their grandmother Herminia, offers an intimate perspective on the daily experiences and complexities of a time of momentous change.
