Las composiciones de Barrett Strong y Norman Whitfield fuewron clásicas de la edad de oro del soul psicodélico y deslumbraron especialmente en las voces de Edwin Starr (“War”) y The Temptations: “I wish it would rain”, “Just my imagination (running away with me), “Cloud nine”, “I can’t get next to you”, “Psychedelic shack”, “Ball of confusion”, “Smiling faces sometimes” (que también interpretaron The Unidsputed Truth) y la genial “Papa was a rollin’ stone”, entre otros, genuinos estandartes del soul psicodélico.
