A principios de los años sesenta, sólo había en Inglaterra dos grupos capaces de hacerle sombra a los Beatles y los Rolling Stones. Ambos eran londinenses y ambos se convirtieron en genuinos iconos de la cultura mod. Los primeros eran los Kinks. Los segundos, los Who, integrados por el guitarrista y compositor Pete Townshend, el cantante Roger Daltrey, el bajista John Entwistle y el baterista Keith Moon, los dos últimos ya desaparecidos. Pete Townshend nació el 19 de mayo en 1945 en un hospital del barrio londinense de Chiswick. En Los Ultrasónicos felicitamos hoy a Pete Townshend, que mañana cumple 80 años.
