Brian Eno's 77 Million Paintings

Justin Coe revisits Brian Eno's 77 Million Paintings installation (see related pocast for Monday, January 13th), and is joined by Alison Hughes to reconsider aspects of the work: it's an aesthetic work of multimedia art, but it also probes the nature of time as experienced by human beings. We often want desperately to hold on to the moment, the specific experience, and that we cannot do. What we can do is try and understand this very human desire to capture the moment, and understand the essential elusiveness of the experienced moment--it's there only as you're experiencing it, and then it's gone forever. 77 Million Paintings remains open at the Sala Alcalá 31 in central Madrid through the end of March (16/01/14).
