21.05.2013This National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) image of Texas obtained May 20, 2013 was taken by the GOES East satellite at 0045Z on May 16, 2013 showing the vicinity around Granbury, Texas approximately 21 minutes before the NOAA NWS Storm Prediction Center received a tornado report, at 0106Z. A powerful storm system churning through the US Midwest spawned tornadoes May 19,2013 in the states of Kansas, Oklahoma and Iowa, destroying homes and killing at least one person, US media reported. Funnel clouds were reported in and near towns including Edmond and Shawnee, Oklahoma. In Shawnee, a twister smashed through a group of mobile homes, said CBS television. Shawnee is where at least one person has been reported killed, Fox television reported.Authorities had put counties in Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois and Missouri under tornado watches and warnings throughout the day. On May 16, 2013, 10 tornadoes tore through Texas killing at least six people and injuring dozens as they leveled homes and downed power lines.
