Entre 1967 y 1968, el soul empezó a embadurnarse de sonidos psicodélicos con The Chambers Brothers (“Time Has Come Today”) , Sly & The Family Stone (“Stand!”) y The Temptations (“Psychedelic Shack”, “Cloud Nine”), artistas que contribuyeron a crear un formidable subgénero con personalidad propia, que también germinaba en las explosivas grabaciones de Jimi Hendrix y cuya estela llegaría hasta Prince y sus epígonos, brillando también el el siglo XXI en los discos de Kendrick Lamar y otros francotiradores negros. Cincuenta años después, celebramos aquella formidable explosión de música de colores con una selección de algunas piezas canónicas del género.
