North By Southwest

In today's "North By Southwest", Nicolas Jackson visits the cathedral city of Toledo, some 80km to the south of Madrid, where celebrations are taking place to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death of the painter known as El Greco. There he meets David Martin and Ben Moxham from British early music group Ensemble Plus Ultra, which performed works composed at the time of El Greco as part of the celebrations. Ensemble Plus Ultra was founded in 2001 and is made up of some of the finest early music singers specialising in the performance of many of the liturgical marvels of the Renaissance, and in particular, of the Spanish Golden Age. www.ensembleplusultra.com
