Policy fellow at the European Council on Foreign Relations and Iran expert Ellie Geranmayeh spoke to us from London about the impact of the deal which will ensure the non-military nature of Iran's nuclear program and lift the crippling economic sanctions. In addition to reviewing the terms of the accord and its timetable, Ms. Geranmayeh notes the opportunity it opens on such vital issues as de-escalating conflicts in the Middle East. Notwithstanding the strenuous opposition by the Israeli Prime Minister to the deal and to any normalization of relations with Iran, Ms. Geranmayeh, like the British Foreign Secretary and the EU's High Commissioner on Foreign Affairs, is optimistic about future engagement with Iran and a shared interest in regional security.
