Today's program reviews the latest events in the on-going crisis in Spain: on Friday the Catalan Parliament declared the Independence of Catalonia and the Spanish government announced it was sacking members of the Catalan government, putting the region's administration under Madrid's rule, closing the Catalan offices in foreign countries and taking other measures allowed under article 155 of the Spanish Constitution. The government also called regional elections in Catalonia for December 21st. Over the weekend, protesters against Catalan Independence held a massive demonstration in Barcelona and Catalan authorities called for civil disobediance. On Monday, the Spanish Attorney General charged some 20 members of the Catalan government with rebellion, sedition and misappropriation of public funds. Ousted President Puigdemont and five advisors have taken refuge in Belgium.
