Today's program includes news of continued violence in Somalia, the war in Afghanistan, and the fighting in Yemen and Syria, as well as more deaths in the Gaza Strip. We also report on the United States' new military mission in Syria, which analysts note would, if implemented, prolong the seven-year, war, while hawks in the administration see it as a means of engaging Iran in direct military conflict. We end the program with music by the Art Ensemble of Chicago, currently performing in Madrid's International Jazz Festival.
