Nicolas Jackson meets Turner Prize winning British artist Jeremy Deller at his first solo exhibition in the Spanish-speaking world, held at Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo in Móstoles, outside Madrid. The exhibition, entitled "The infinitely variable ideal of the popular" can later be seen at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo in Mexico City and the Fundación PROA in Buenos Aires. Jeremy Deller works in a variety of media including video, music, installation and sculpture, often collaboratively, invoking reflection on popular post-industrial British culture. His exhibition "English Magic" represented the United Kingdom at the Venice Bienalle in 2013. Here he takes us on a tour of the Madrid exhibition and discusses "Britishness", Scottish independence, art and national identity, and the value of prizes, from a train in Spain. We also here from the exhibition's curator, Amanda de la Garza. www.ca2m.org www.jeremydeller.org
