'Moncloa as Palimpsest': an interview with Nicholas Callaway

Nicholas Callaway is an american artist based in Spain who during his studies at the Complutense University began to explore and examine the traces of past violence on that campus in Madrid's Moncloa district. He discovered much more than the bullet holes that still mark many of the buildings dating from the Civil War. In the course of his research and explorations of campus and surrounding areas, Nicholas Callaway found himself working through layers of history and human experience, reflected in the frottages he made and in his book "Moncloa as Palimpsest" published by Madrid's Complutense University.
