English Language Broadcast   Home of the Brave: Voting Rights Act of 1965 01/10/2015 31:46

Today's program is a conversation about US history among Americans, Amelia Ray, Inger Collies, Ryan Turner and the English broadcast team. Madrid's Casa de América recently showed the documentary "Home of the Brave" about a white woman who left her family to go down to Selma Alabama to take part in the demonstrations defending the right of Black Americans to vote.  She was murdered, most likely by an FBI informer, and the FBI subsequently ran a smear campaign against her.  But her death was also, possibly, a catalyst for the passage in Congress of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.
