In & Around Spain

. W. Stoneking was in Spain recently for his first performances here--in Barcelona and Madrid--and this week we listen to music from his two albums "King Hokum" and "Jungle Blues," released in 2006 and 2008, respectively. C. W. Stoneking, who was born in Australia to American parents, plays music that incorporates blues, hokum, calypso, and Dixieland jazz. His sound is 1920s, but there is nothing archaic or anachronistic about his music. He is fast developing substantial followings in Britain and elsewhere, and from the success he enjoyed in his two Spanish concerts, it looks like he's going to gain a lot of Spanish fans, as well.
