El 38º Euroradio Folk Festival de 2017 se celebró en la ciudad checa de Çesky Krumlov, organizado por la Çesky Rohzlas o Radio Nacional de la República Checa. Este evento, itinerante, lo acoge cada año una emisora pública europea. En 2017 se celebró entre el 19 y el 22 de julio. Cada emisora pública europea envía un representante. En total fueron 21 conciertos de los que en una primera tanda vamos a oír diez, en las próximas dos semanas.
El festival de 2017 comenzó con tres importantes representantes del pais. Hoy escuchamos a Jitka Šuranská Trio: Jitka Šuranská - vocal, violin; Martin Krajíček - vocal, mandolin; Marian Friedl - vocal, double bass, small cimbalom, traditional flutes.
El programa de mano, en inglés, decía: "A trio rooted in tradition but following its own musical path. The violinist and singer, Jitka Šuranská, grew up surrounded by the folklore of Moravian Slovakia. She studied the violin at Brno Conservatoire and she still plays classical music as a member of the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra in Zlín.
She has performed with Stanislav Gabriel’s Cimbalom Band, violinist Jiří Plocek (the album Písňobraní, 2005). In 2012 she began to give solo performances using a looper, collaborated with the Slovak Pacora Trio and in 2013 she released her first solo album Nězachoď slunečko. Since 2014 she has been fulfilling her dream of her own band, with which she recorded another album, Divé husy (2016).
The mandolinist, Martin Krajíček, also plays the guitar and banjo and works as a composer and arranger in many other projects. The bassist, Marian Friedl, has been inspired by the folklore culture of the Beskydy but can play contemporary jazz and classical music with the same profound knowledge.
