A Sevilla in crisis is beaten in the Anoeta Stadium
Sevilla poor performance on the pitch was laid bare by their 3-1 loss to the Real Sociedad. Doubt has been cast as to where they go from here, along with Berizzo¿s future as Sevilla manager.
Sevilla last night brought 2017 to a close with its worst match in months. Sevilla was no match for a beleaguered Real Sociedad, having not had a win in a month-and-a-half, following the 1-0 goal by Iñigo Martínez, a quarter-of-an-hour in. Sevilla, besides not attacking, did not have a breakthrough until Ben Yedder¿s equalizer. The striker is what little there is left to salvage at Sevilla.
That was the whole offensive by Sevilla in the Anoeta Stadium, and the Real Sociedad put it to its advantage. Zubeldia scored the goal bringing it to 2-1, with some bad luck for David Soria, since his shot rebounded off Escudero.
Then, almost into injury time, Carlos Vela scored the final 3-1 goal, making their defence apparent. The goal was a parting shot by the striker, who leaves for MLS.
Sevilla is on holiday until 28th, with Berizzo under scrutiny and awaiting reinforcements from the winter transfer market. The Copa match against Cádiz, and the derby, which will be played with Pizarro on suspension, are the upcoming challenges to be faced.
