Malaga's Pompidou Centre renews its entire permanent collection

If you¿re already familiar with Malaga¿s Pompidou Centre, you¿ll have to return, and if not, it¿s the perfect time to discover it. After two and a half years, the centre is renewing its entire permanent collection. Faithful to its inherent avant-garde nature, the centre now proposes a journey through utopias, with some of the most hallowed figures of 20th and 21st century art.

¿Utopías Modernas¿ (Modern Utopias) is Malaga¿s Pompidou Centre¿s revamped proposal for the next two and a half years. The Monument to the Third International, by Vladimir Tatlin, is undoubtedly the most iconic piece of the sample. A Tower of Babel, representative of the Russian Revolution of 1917, opposes The Fall of Icarus by Chagall, symbolising the eternal failure of utopias.

In total, the collection features 82 pieces, including paintings, sculptures, architecture and audiovisual productions, and big names such as Picasso, Miró, Kandinsky, Peter Doig, Godard, Julio González, Gargallo, Delaunay, Saura, Le Corbusier and Carlos Ferrater.
