Unicaja has made a fighting comeback to the Euroleague. Last night sent shock waves through the Martin Carpena stadium with a momentous victory against the current European champion, Fenerbahçe. It wasn¿t plain sailing, quite the opposite in fact, since the Turkish team held the lead for pretty much the whole match, through its perseverance, and aided by the three referees.

With 50-57 on the scoreboard, point guard McCallum kick-started the Malaga fightback, with the scoreboard showing 60-57 in the final quarter. After a run of 18-3, the advantage increased to an encouraging 68-60 following a series of efforts by Waczynski, Augustine and Milosavjlevic, with just 2.18 left before the end.

It looked like it was in the bag, but Fenerbahçe fought back, bringing their score up to one point behind with 6 seconds left of the match. The Skoulas point guard attempted a shot right before the final whistle which did not go in. The Eurocup champion had defeated the Euroleague champion by 68-67.
