World ALS Day: 800 cases in Andalusia
Today is World ALS Day, bringing awareness to a neurodegenerative disease that causes the progressive deterioration of muscles until reaching total paralysis. Three new cases of the disease are diagnosed each day in Spain; a disease whose cause is unknown and currently has no cure.

In 2013, at the age of 53, Valentina was diagnosed with ALS . For a long time she was worried she might have ALS because of her family history and because she knew the symptoms. After the diagnosis came the onset of progressive deterioration, a dark cloud over her and her family¿s lives.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, with no known cause or cure, causes the progressive degeneration of muscles until reaching total paralysis.
In Andalusia, there are around 800 people with ALS and around four thousand throughout Spain, where 900 new cases are diagnosed each year.
