Las Palmas de Gran Canaria prepares its foundational fiestas
The city will celebrate its 539th anniversary with concerts by Mestisay and Omara Portuando on the night of 23 June.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria is ready to celebrate its 539th birthday. And as always, it will award gold medals and honour the city's favourite and most illustrious natives and residents. This year, the City Council will award distinctions to 18 of its citizens. And one of them is from our own family at RTVE, the presenter Roberto Herrera.
But not everything will be ceremony. Most of all, this is party time. On the night of 23 June, Plaza de Santa Ana will host a concert with Mestisay and their guest of honour, the Cuban singer Omara Portuondo.
