The 24-hour taxi strike, has not affected everyone equally in Andalusia

The Andalusian taxi drivers joined the strike that the sector called for in protest against the "infiltration" -they say- of the transport platforms Uber and Cabify. In addition, in Seville, the strike coincided with a public holiday, for which finding a taxi in the street became very difficult.

The taxi drivers have come together today in a strike to protest against the car hire companies with a driver. Thousands of Andalusian taxi drivers went to the strikes taking place in Madrid. Airports, train stations, buses and some taxi ranks began the day empty this Tuesday. The strike forced many to look for alternative forms of transport. The stops have had an uneven following in terms of the cities and of the different taxi driver associations. Uber and Cabify assure that they're not acting as competitors in the sector. To a certain extent, the origin of the conflict is, they recall, various aggressions suffered by the hired cars, such as the burning of vehicles that took place in Seville during the Fair.

This Tuesday, in the centre of Seville, we saw a lot of empty taxi ranks. Difficult to find circulating taxis. The only one was Ignacio¿s. We¿re taking a ride with him, and we're going to pay him. This poster tells people that there¿s minimal taxi service, but today, many people have had a hard time finding even one. And does this benefit the carriages? Well, this family has had no other choice but to use them as a taxi.

At Santa Justa station, some didn¿t even know about the strike. So, today buses have basically experienced an early August. The reason for this strike -say the taxi drivers- are the alternative transport platforms, such as Uber and Cabify.

The Cabify drivers assure that today they are on alert, after the images that we saw during the Seville Fair. 9 cars from their company which, were prepared to give rides, showed up burned in the parking lot of a rural lodge in Castilblanco de los Arroyos.
