La Zarza rescues its reading corner
The neighbourhood in the Tenerife municipality of Fasnia is hanging up posters that encourage people to read. A tribute to the teacher who set up a public library 50 years ago.

Small phrases, like advertising spots, that encouraged people to read 50 years ago. At the time, the rural teacher managed to set up a public library in a neighbourhood where television had hardly even arrived.
Artisan posters were hung up around La Zarza for years, and they became hallmarks of the neighbourhood¿s identity. Now the residents have decided to bring them back in the form of metal plaques. The main plaza has become the designated reading corner of the neighbourhood.
