The Feria de Jerez is mid-way through

In Jerez de la Frontera, Cádiz, people are in full celebration of the Horse Fair. Starting last Saturday and going until the 20 May, el Real, located in the centric González Hontoria Park fills with colour, music and joy, and each afternoon it becomes a spectacular parade of horse and carriages.

The horses are the main protagonists of the Feria de Jerez; with one exception this year, the lady from Jerez to whom the fair is dedicated: Lola Flores.

In addition to the competitions and exhibitions of jumping, acoso y derribo, and doma vaquera (equestrian events), every afternoon el Real of the González Hontoria Park, located in the city centre, is converted into a spectacle of horsemen and women riding on beautiful horses and an enormous variety of carriages from which riders can enjoy the panorama of the fair.

But the fair is also enjoyed on the ground; there are 196 stalls open to the public offering food, drink, conversation, laughter, singing and dancing... And if the children get bored, to the rides they go! Even the smallest enjoy all the commotion. Because the Feria de Jerez is a great occasion for all who attend, and they sure know how to have a good time. Cheer up, there¿s a lot of fair left between now and next Saturday.
