The Procession of the mantillas (¿shawls¿), or of the encounter, is one of the most traditional during Holy Week in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The images of Christ and La Dolorosa (The Holy Virgin of the Sorrows) carved by the Canarian sculptor José Luján Pérez leave from the cathedral. Women dressed in the Canarian shawl¿a white shawl of great simplicity¿go out accompanying the image of Christ.
