82.5% Hotel occupancy in Extremadura for Holy Week

According to the State Secretary of Tourism, Matilde Asían, Extremadura will reach an 82.5% average hotel occupation during Holy Week. A figure that the Board of Extremadura¿s General Director for Tourism, Francisco Martin, elevates to100% with regards to the four major cities in Extremadura (Badajoz, Mérida, Cáceres and Plasencia), in addition to Zafra and Trujillo. Which translates to more than 60,000 visits and more than 130,000 overnight stays.
Martin highlights as a major point of attraction for Extremadura the fact that "it is a region that has 13 religious events considered to be festivals of regional tourist interest" during Holy Week. "It is undoubtedly the main holiday period for Extremadura", he added.
