A Granada Metro worker is killed while checking a lift
The victim died when the goods lift he was checking in Alcázar del Genil station fell on him. The incident is being investigated to see whether it was due to a technical fault or human error.

The event took place at 09:50 this morning. A member of the public reported the accident, in which part of a goods lift fell on a worker in the underground Metro station.
The victim was a 50-year-old employee of Unión Temporal de Empresas Setra, the firm subcontracted by the Granada Metro to install communications, passenger information and signalling systems.
It is the first fatal workplace accident in the Granada Metro since construction began in April 2007. The cause is now being investigated, to determine if a technical fault or human error was responsible.
The trade unions CCOO and UGT have called a rally for this Friday and five minutes of silence to protest this workplace accident.
