Women's Day, laws and commitment to society and for equality

This 8 March, Women's Day, The Assembly of Extremadura was the setting for an event where a call was made for a Governmental Pact combating violence against women, which is responsible for the murder of 23 women so far this year, as well as a commitment by all to fight against gender inequality.

Two women were the voice for Extremaduran society in the institutional act on Women's Day, which was held in the Assembly of Extremadura. The canoeist Elena Ayuso advocated for the female role in sports and for equality for people with disabilities, while the journalist Momi Díaz advocated for the right to reconcile work life and home life, for decent, equal pay and she criticised the lack of women in positions of power.

All attendees paid tribute to the 23 women murdered this year as a result of violence against women and the director of the Regional Women's Institute called for a Governmental Pact combating violence against women. The president of the Board has said that, in addition to laws, equality needs everybody's commitment.
