Aguablanca miners collect signatures to put pressure on the EID
The signature collection campaign asking the Ministry of the Environment for an urgent resolution to the Declaration of Environmental Impact (EID), began this morning at the Monesterio street market (Badajoz), lead by former workers from the mine. The campaign will soon be brought to other municipalities in the area and is also on the internet, on the website www.change.org.
FIRMAS MINA AGUABLANCA
Julia Pecellín
Worry and indignation among the Aguablanca miners in the face of the fourth request for documentation from the Ministry directed by Isabel García Tejerina, after two years of waiting for a positive resolution to the case so that activity can return to the mine.
The lack of a resolution from Ministry of the Environment has led the current owner, Sacyr Valoriza, to let go of 16 of the remaining 25 workers in Aguablanca, which at one point had more than 300 workers from Monesterio and surrounding towns.
