Under the motto "una nacional digna y segura" (a suitable and safe national road), more than 2.000 people from the 48 municipalities in Extremadura and Castile-La Mancha, through which the road passes, have protested in Puebla Don Rodrigo, Ciudad Real, to ask the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to twin the N-430 and convert it into the A-43 motorway. The protest blocked the road and forced traffic to divert to alternate routes.
In the last 10 years, 260 accidents have been recorded on the roadway, causing more than 40 deaths.
