Extremadura, less rural and more aged
40% of the population of Extremadura lives in the seven municipalities with populations greater than 20 thousand people. One in five is older than 65 years of age.

This Friday, the conference, "the process of demographic ageing in Extremadura and the impetus of active ageing", has been held at the Assembly of Extremadura. The adviser of Health and Social Policies, José María Vegeles, who inaugurated this Forum on Law and Equality, has pointed out the official data from INE (National Institute of Statistics): 20% of the population is older than 65, and in 65% of the towns of Extremadura, one in four people exceeds this age.
