The rights of the LGTBI community in education, up for analysis
Extremadura will create shortly an LGTBI Observatory as one of the first steps in the development of a regional Law that guarantees the rights of this community. Its first commitment will be to perform an X-ray study that analyses the situation of these rights in education.
The LGBTI Observatory in Extremadura will be a registered body, consultative and promoting social participation that helps to prevent the spread of homophobia, and it has been approved today by the Board of Extremadura. It will seek out "teacher training and those ingredients that engage perfectly so that Education works" and which are "integral, so that it does not discriminate nor does it make suffer any child or family, when there are laws that protect them", said the spokeswoman of the Board.
The directed study will act as a "real X-ray" of "how the rights of LGTBI people are" in the educational centres of the region, said Gil Rosiña, in order to afterwards carry out the Integral LGBTI Education Plan that takes into consideration the autonomous regulation, approved unanimously in the previous legislative period.
