Extremadura will not have a new decree for the Admission of Pupils

The Department of Education of Extremadura has decided that there will not be a new decree for the admission of pupils for the next course. The reason, according to the General Secretary of Education, Rafael Rodríguez de la Cruz, is the disparity of criteria with regard to the legality of the new regulations. While the Judge Advocate of the Board reports that the decree is adapted to law, the Legal Commission denies this.

The Board was developing a new decree for the admission of pupils in school centres, to improve the current one with respect to the integration of work and family life, income restrictions or disability issues.

The Judge Advocate of the autonomous government is reporting on the legality of the new decree, but the judgement that the Judge Advocate has written out indicates that some of the approaches of the new regulation are not adapted to law. In light of the collision of legal opinions and the opposition of parent associations, the Department of Education has decided to cancel the new decree. Therefore, admission for the next course will be regulated by the current decree, from 2012.
