Social pact signed in order "to arm" Public Health

The Board, the trade unions UGT, CC.OO. and the employers CREEX have signed the 'Guarantee and Sustainability of the Public Sanitary System' pact. It seeks to defend "how much financing we need to sustain it" according to the Health adviser, José María Vergeles.

For the Health advisor, José María Vergeles, the percentage of 5.9% of the GDP that at present Spain has dedicated to the maintenance of its public health system is insufficient. "All the financial estimations indicate that a percentage below 7% of the GDP would be insufficient financing for the national health system", he stressed. The social pact signed this Friday seeks to guarantee "economic sustainability", therefore the signers have interpreted it as a message with a view to the future negotiation of a new model of autonomous financing.
