The Canary Islands will have its own Law on Historical Memory

The Parliament of he Canary Islands will draft a proposal for a law on historical memory in the archipelago.

The law would be complementary to the state one, through which it is hoped that some of the damage caused by the Civil War and dictatorship can be repaired.

Memoria Histórica

The regional Parliament will draft the future Canary Islands¿ Law of Historical Memory by consensus.

The law aims to provide moral reparation for those who suffered persecution and violence during the Civil War and dictatorship.

The law would aid the exhumation and identification of the remains of those persecuted at the hands of the Franco dictatorship and the creation of a DNA bank.
