The Canary Islands Music Festival begins

Opening the 33rd Canary Islands Music Festival. Tonight, the La Habana en Tías String Quartet will give a concert in Lanzarote. The Mahler Orchestra will perform In the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium; the festival opened last night in the Adán Martín Auditorium.

The Mahler Orchestra is one of the most prestigious chamber ensembles in Europe. They have performed in 35 countries around the world. Their sound is characterised by an independent understanding of the music, encompassing a range of styles from Viennese classicism to more contemporary work. They like to define themselves as a nomadic orchestra. The orchestra¿s 45 members from 20 different countries come together for tours .And last night on the Tenerife Auditorium stage they performed pieces by Prokofiev, Dvorak and a piece with a Canarian accent, ¿Chaman¿, by Gustavo Trujillo.

Tonight the Mahler Orchestra will take the stage at the Alfredo Kraus Auditorium in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. After this concert, from the 10th to the 14th of January they will perform in Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Palma, La Gomera and El Hierro. There will be music on all of the islands to begin 2017.
