Sabas has accepted the challenge: a new category, a new city, a new team and few fans. Extremadura needs 30 of the 57 points in dispute, in the 19 games left in the second season, to continue in the category.

The Madrilenean is no stranger in the region, he has already played for two seasons in Mérida. He has also played for Atlético de Madrid and Real Betis, and has been Abel Resino's deputy manager for Atleti, as well as for Murcia, Levante and Valladolid.

His predecessor Juan Velasco, who headed the Almendralejo team in Second Division B, said his goodbyes minutes before the introduction of Sabas, after 76 days as the blue and scarlet manager, a position he took to substitute Diego Merino, after an unusual start to the season. Velasco will leave the team in the same position he found it; second-to-last in their group.
