Regional goverment calls for calm around Hepatitis C in Cáceres
The minister of health has called for calm, and says that they are carrying out routine checks, ruling out any risk of the infection spreading. The four people infected are receiving treatment to keep the sickness from developing further.

The existing protocol is being applied for these cases and "there is nothing to worry about". This is the message given by the Extremaduran health minister, José María Vergeles, who confirmes that "the appropriate hygiene measures have been reinforced" in the hemodialysis unit of San Pedro Alcántara hospital in Cáceres.
One other person is infected, but that occurred before the outbreak. The Extremaduran health authorities are now looking for the source of the infection. The idea that it came from the hospital's hemodialysis unit has not been ruled out.
