Three more people arrested in the 'Tellus Operation' against UPA-UCE in Extremadura

The Civil Guard has arrested two technical agricultural engineers and an accountant. Two of them give statements today in Mérida, and one even spent the night in the Civil Guard prison at the commander's headquarters in Cáceres. The arrested have been accused of falsifying documents, money laundering to the detriment of the Treasury and of belonging to criminal organisation.

The 'Tellus Operation' has already seen ten people from the agricultural organisation UPA-UCE arrested. An investigation has been opened for supposed fraud in the use of regional subsidies granted for agricultural advisory purposes. Today, Gervasio Martínez and Ana Jiménez are giving statements in the Examining Magistrate's Court number 1 of Mérida. Lorenzo Ramos, general secretary of UPA-UCE, has deemed the action taken by the police and the courts as "an embarrassing scandal".
