Two leaders of UPA-UCE will remain in prison
Ignacio Huertas, regional secretary of the Unión de Pequeños Agricultores [Union of Small Farmers], and organisational secretary Maximiano Alcón will remain in preventive custody after the Provincial Court of Badajoz rejected the writing presented by their defence lawyers asking that they be released . The two senior figures have been in prison since 6 November.

Ignacio Huertas and Maximiano Alcón remain in preventive custody for alleged subsidy fraud, money laundering and forgery of documents. The agricultural organisation expected that they would be released without charges, but the Provincial Court upheld the ruling by the judge of Examining Magistrate's Court number 1 of Mérida.
