Hundredth anniversary
The National Parks celebrate one hundred years today, four of which are in the Canary Islands: Las Cañadas del Teide, Garajonay, La Caldera de Taburiente and Timanfaya.

The Canary Islands is the autonomous community which has the most national parks, which include El Teide, Garajonay, La Caldera de Taburiente and Timanfaya. Two of them have been declared World Heritage sites by UNESCO, and Timanfaya in Lanzarote is also a biosphere reserve. Soon, ¿El Mar de Las Calmas¿ in the island of El Hierro will be included in the network.
