The Belén de Arena de Las Canteras, a sandcastle nativity scene in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is now in place. It is one of the main tourist attractions in the Canary Islands at Christmas. Last year it received 200,000 visitors.

The Belén de Arena de Las Canteras, a sandcastle nativity scene in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is now open. It was created by Spanish and international artists in just one week using 2,000 tons of sand. It will be there until 9 January.
This nativity scene is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the Canary Islands at Christmas. Last year it received 200,000 visitors. 35% of them were tourists.
